Lengyel, magyar – két jó barát // Polak, Węgier, dwa bratanki

Hétvégi kiruccanás egy nagyon jó barátom krakkói esküvőjére.

A weekend trip to a very good friend’s wedding in Krakow.

Amire Varsón át vezetett az utam, elsősorban azért mert eredetileg nem akartam buszozni Budapestről Krakkóba, olcsó fapados járat viszont csak Varsóba van. Az ötlet jónak is tűnt, és így legalább Varsót is megpillanthattam röviden, de hazafelé végül is csak busszal kellett jönnöm.

To which my way led via Warsaw, primarily because originally I didn’t want to take the coach from Budapest to Krakow, but there is a low-cost flight only to Warsaw. The idea seemed good, and so I could briefly check out Warsaw as well, but on the way home I ended up with the coach.

Pénteken délelőtt érkeztem Varsóba. A reptérről könnyen elérhető a város a közvetlen vonattal, amire érvényes a például általam is vásárol 24 órás közlekedési jegy.

Szállást közvetlenül a központban foglaltam, pár száz méterre a reptérről érkező vonatmegállótól, valamint a Kultúra és Tudomány Palotája. A lakástulaj rendes volt, mert a délután 3 órás becsekkolás helyett már 12-kor elfoglalhattam a lakást, bár kicsit nehéz volt kommunikálni vele és a kulcshoz való hozzájutáshoz (maga a tulaj nem jelent meg, hanem sms-ben elküldte a lépcsőház ajtó kódját, valamint az ajtón lévő kis doboznak a kódját, amiben a lakásajtó kulcsa volt).

I arrived to Warsaw on Friday morning. The city can be easily reached from the airport by the direct train, on which the 24h transport card, what I also bought) is also valid.

I booked accommodation right in the centre, couple of hundred meters away from the station of the airport train, and the Palace of Culture and Science. The property owner was nice, because instead of the 15.00 check-in, I could occupy the flat at 12.00, although it was a bit difficult to communicate with him and getting the key (he himself didn’t show, but sent me the code of the staircase door in a text message, and also the code of the small locker on the door, which contained the key to the flat).

Egy kis pihenés után útra keltem, elmetróztam és gyalogoltam a POLIN – Lengyelországi Zsidóság Történeti Múzeumához, de az idő rövidsége miatt sem ide, sem más múzeumba nem tudtam bemenni ez alkalommal.

After a short rest, I took the metro, then walked to POLIN – Museum of the History of Polish Jews, but due to the lack of time, I didn’t go in, either here or other museums this time.

 

Innen elbuszoztam az Óvároshoz és a királyi palotához.

From here I took the bus to the Old Town and the Royal Castle.

Ezután gyalog indultam útnak, minden bizonnyal a királyi útvonalon, ahol templomokba, Kopernikuszba, az ismeretlen katona sírjába és egyebekbe botlottam.

After this, I started walking, most probably on the Royal Route, where I bumped into churches, Copernicus, tomb of the unknown soldier and others.

 

Sétám a Kultúra és Tudomány Palotájánál ért véget, ahol aztán metróra szálltam, mert a térképolvasásom alapján egy, a varsói felkelés emlékművére számítottam az úti célomon, de végül is ez egy múzeum volt (vagy az emlékmű máshol van, vagy nincs is vagy a múzeumon belül?).

My walk ended at the Palace of Culture and Science, where I popped on the metro, because based on my reading of the map, I was expecting a monument to the Warsaw Rising at my destination, but after all, this was a museum (or the monument is somewhere else, or there is no monument or it’s within the museum?).

 

De nem is baj, az itt közlekedő metró úgyis abba az irányba ment, amerre ezután terveztem menni – a Praga kerületbe, amit végülis nyilván nem tudtam rendesen körbejárni, de egy vacsora és sör belefért.

But no problem, the metro from here took me where I wanted to go after this – to the Praga district, which in the end I couldn’t explore properly, obviously, but a dinner and beer was in place.

A napot a Kultúra és Tudomány Palotájának kilátó teraszán zártam.

I ended the day on the observation deck of the Palace of Culture and Science.

 

Június 30. // 30 June

Az esküvő napja.

Ami nekem is korán indult, mert már 7.50-kor indult a vonatom Krakkóba.

The day of the wedding.

Which started early for me as well, as my train for Krakow departed at 7.50AM.

 

10.44-kor érkeztem meg, kb. 2 órám volt kicsit sétálgatni, ebédelni, sörözni, és fél 2-re már a Szt. Anna templomnál kellett lenni.

 

I arrived at 10.44, I had cc. 2 hours to explore, have lunch and beer, and had to be at St. Anne’s church by 13.30.

 

A templomi szertartás után külön busz vitt minket a Dwor Sierakow-hoz (kb. 40 percre Krakkótól), ahol a lagzi volt. Itt én kértem szobát, amit jól is tettem, mert a sok evés-ivástól elég hamar elfáradtam, valamint (július 1-én) reggel korán kellett kelnem, hogy elinduljak a 8.45-kor induló budapesti buszomhoz (amit taxival kellett abszolváljak).

After the church ceremony, a private bus took us to Dwor Sierakow (cc. 40 min away from Krakow), where the party was. I booked a room here, which was a good decision, because I passed out quite soon after the too much eating-drinking, and I had to get up early the next day (1 July) to go (by taxi) and catch my coach for Budapest at 8.45.

 

Nagyon rövid hétvége volt ez, de nagyon jó volt látni a friss házaspárt, akiket még Angliából ismerek.

It was a very short weekend , but it was really good to see the newly weds, whom I got to know back at the time in England.
